What is the Best Internet Browser

If you follow tech news, you know that Internet Explorer (IE) by Microsoft continues to have its security problems. But beyond that, it is also one of the slower. There are other alternatives to IE with the most popular being Firefox by Mozilla and Chrome by Google. So which is the best? Each can claim to be the best and they are in particular areas but which is the best overall? In this article, I am going to look at speed. Speed is two fold, one how fast does the browser program start up and secondly, how fast does it load a webpage. When it comes to start up, Chrome is the fastest but when you look at Chrome you can understand why. Like Google.com, Chrome takes a minimalist view having very little in its toolbar. It does not allow many of the popular add-ins such as the Yahoo toolbar nor does it contain the view and navigation features of the others. You can see this here.

Once it is loaded, which browser loads individual webpages the fastest? This is what most of us who surf the internet are concerned about. The winner is Firefox but Chrome is very close. Using www.yahoo.com as the test, Firefox was 20% faster loading that page then IE. So if you are looking for speed when surfing the internet, the Firefox is your fastest.

Personally, I use Firefox but there are times when I use IE such as when a website requires Active X to function. Active X is used for a limited number of media players such as Windows Media Player. Firefox does not support Active X for security reasons because it is a common target for malicious software. If you are using Firefox and find that something as a media clip is not functioning, then view the same site in IE. If it does function now, it was an Active X program.
